South Africa
Testalonga
Drive north of Cape Town and you will reach Malmesbury, the hub of the Swartland wine region. But to find one of South Africa's brightest stars, you must continue to the northern reaches of the Swartland. Here you will find Bandits Kloof, a rugged patch of 135 hectares that Craig & Carla Hawkins call home. TESTALONGA began in 2008 with the first vintage of El Bandito — the flagship skin contact Chenin Blanc. Since then, Craig & Carla have pushed the boundaries of natural winemaking, drawing international attention and raising many eyebrows along the way. The most recent vintages reflect a growth, maturity, and above all, purity that is genuinely rare to come by. Each cuvée is single vineyard and single varietal, in an effort to best reflect the diverse terroir of the Swartland. In today's vast world of wine, seldom do we taste wines that stop us in our tracks — the wines of TESTALONGA do just that. Each vintage showcases an even greater sense of purpose, vision, and focus, somehow perfectly straddling the line between incredibly drinkable and infinitely complex. In short, these wines are not to be missed.
